Fiduciary services: Beyond the clichés

Why your fiduciary is a year-round partner, not a once-a-year formality.

In the minds of many entrepreneurs, the fiduciary profession still carries a fixed image: that of a provider you consult, out of obligation, once a year to file your tax return and close your books.

This image dies hard, and it explains why so many SMEs and self-employed professionals underuse what their fiduciary could genuinely bring them day to day.

At DHAC, we've chosen to break out of that mould. Here are the five most common clichés and why, with us, they simply don't hold up.

"It's expensive"

This is a perfectly fair reaction, and honestly it all depends on your perspective. The real cost isn't the fiduciary's invoice, it's the expenses that follow from VAT that wasn't properly recovered, from an error in your legal structure that can be very costly to fix, or from a financing application stalled by a late year-end close, to name just a few.

At DHAC, price matters, but what matters most is choosing the fiduciary suited to your company's needs and expectations.

The real question isn't "how much will this cost me?" but "what will it save me?"

"It's just for doing my taxes"

This is almost certainly the most widespread idea and the most reductive. Yet the tax return is only the tip of the iceberg.

DHAC also handles full bookkeeping from A to Z, financial statements in line with the Swiss Code of Obligations (CO), payroll and HR, structuring advice, and increasingly the digitalisation of your processes through our ERP, Odoo, of which we are an official partner.

In concrete terms: if you only consult us once a year for tax matters, you're using just a fraction of what our fiduciary can actually bring you day to day.

"I'm too small, I don't need it"

An SME with fewer than five employees generally has neither an accounting department nor an HR department and that's precisely where DHAC steps in: flexibly, on demand, without the fixed costs of an in-house team.

The smaller the business, the less room it has for error, and it needs just as much accounting rigour as a large company. Our support is scaled to the actual size of the need, not to a flat-rate package.

"Once it's set up, I don't need to change"

Many entrepreneurs stay with the same fiduciary for years. Not because they're fully satisfied, but because switching seems too complicated. Yet a business evolves over the years, and straightforward bookkeeping can become insufficient as the company grows.

Handled properly, a switch happens with no loss of data. A dissatisfied entrepreneur shouldn't be held back by the complexity of changing, but should focus instead on what good support could bring them.

"All fiduciaries are the same"

In reality, the differences between fiduciaries are considerable: not the same response times, not the same level of digitalisation, not the same proactivity, and often different specialisations (at DHAC, for example, we support many medical professions through Medi-Finance).

A fiduciary that merely processes your documents once a year doesn't play the same role as a partner who anticipates your deadlines, structures your budgets, and alerts you before problems arise. We aim to embody that difference in every engagement.

In summary

A fiduciary is a full-fledged management partner. At DHAC SA, in Geneva as in Dubai, this is exactly the approach we stand for: Swiss accounting precision combined with modern digital tools, at the service of entrepreneurs and medical professions.
